When do I need high pressure piping?
Engineered to a higher specification than standard piping, pressure piping is suitable for transporting fluids at more extreme pressures and temperatures.
High pressure pipes tend to experience more movement, vibration, and overall wear and tear due to the velocity of materials moving through the system. A high pressure piping system requires extra consideration for its hangers and supports to ensure the system operates safely and effectively throughout its lifespan. High pressure piping materials need to be more heat resistant, protected against corrosion, and properly balanced between weight and rigidity and overall durability.
Applications for high pressure piping
In addition to oil and gas, high pressure piping is used in many industries. Some chemical manufacturing processes require transporting goods at high temperature, high pressure, or both. Electricity generation, regardless of process, often relies on high pressure steam to turn turbines. Even food manufacturing can necessitate high temperature, high pressure piping.
